HAPPENING AT AME

Sara participated on behalf of AME in a stakeholder meeting in Lilongwe focused on oxygen therapy infrastructure and the technical considerations for LMIC deployment.

AME presented its evaluation concept and testing criteria at the Africa Health Conference in Johannesburg, South Africa, sponsored by DAK Foundation.

The WHO Compendium, to which AME contributed extensively, was officially published. AME also supported the preparation and launch event for the publication.

The AME Group received a financial donation from the Vitol Foundation, supporting the continued development of the evaluation framework and AME's independent activities.

Following the intensive review work completed in late 2023, AME provided sustained support to WHO throughout the first half of 2024 in preparing the compendium for publication and organising the launch event.

After two months of intensive review, 4 AME team members finalised the Healthcare Technology Management review of 62 technologies for the WHO Compendium of Innovative Health Technologies for Low-Resource Settings 2024.

AME began a collaboration with Makerere University, Uganda, to dive into the AME criteria and explore ways to validate whether equipment that scores low on the predefined testing criteria breaks down more often in the field.

WHO selected AME to take charge of the Healthcare Technology Management review component of the WHO Compendium of Innovative Health Technologies for Low-Resource Settings 2024 — a significant recognition of AME's expertise and framework.

Two MSc students from TU Delft started independent research examining AME's position and potential contribution within the broader medical technology landscape for LMICs.

AME presented its evaluation concept and framework to ECRI USA, one of the world's leading independent medical device evaluation organisations, exploring potential collaboration.

AME collaborated with THET to define a theory of change and explore potential administrative hosting arrangements. Members Gunalan, Anna, Edward, and Andrew attended an in-person meeting in London.

AME presented its work and evaluation framework concept at the Appropriate Healthcare Technology Conference online edition, reaching an international audience of health technology professionals.
